Water purification

Rådasand is used extensively throughout Sweden as a filtration sand thanks to its purity, granular form and narrow fraction limits. We have two different types of filtration sand for water purification depending on the application needed.

Rapid filtration sand

Rådasand rapid filtration sand can be used in many different types of water treatment plants for water purification. Applications range from municipal waterworks with a supply capacity of thousands of tons of sand to filtration sand in the pool sand filter at small and large swimming pools, spa swimming pools or at family homes using water-treatment equipment. The sand is also excellent for use in water purification plants for deep drilled wells. The bulk of the filtration sand is exported to Norway, but we also supply customers on other continents in countries such as Saudi Arabia, China and Sri Lanka.

Slow filtration sand

Rådasand is used as slow filtration sand and in infiltration ponds that form part of water treatment plants to produce drinking water. It can also be used at infiltration ponds through sand filters for single or multifamily homes. The slow filtration sand is used where high demands and strict requirements are set on the sand’s purity and grain size, distribution of the sand, adsorption and biological degradation and the ability to separate organic material.
